First signs of spring and a new beginning for my site
Hello again to everybody still persevering with my blog after almost 2 years of photography posts. I’ve finally managed to transfer my blog to a self hosted domain, so now you can look forward to a more personalised look to my blog with some important new features like video posts soon to materialise.
I’m still ironing out some kinks with the transfer so do bear with me if you encounter any problems with the new layout.
Now I’m armed with new my new camera and website, I’m going to be spending a lot more time in front of my computer getting to grips with video editing and tinkering with web design. So in order to make the most of some free time during a rare bout of decent weather, I thought I’d go looking for some delayed signs of the onset of this year’s disappointing spring.
And in fairness, I don’t think I did awfully bad.
I’ve decided to mess about with the shots of a tadpole that I found in our garden pond in Photoshop, because it’s good for a bit of practice, which I’m sure that you can see I’m in some need of. So please do forgive for breaking one of my own cardinal rules of photography by overindulging in some crass photo editing, but I can assure you that this shall remain a rare occurrence.
The rest are all straight out of the camera though, and I’ve even uploaded them in higher resolution to enhance your viewing pleasure and make the most of another benefit of self hosting my blog- the fact I don’t have to worry about running out of space with wordpress.com anymore.
Anyways, I hope that you enjoy the shots, alongside the new and hopefully improved website.

The Ladybird’s Creep
I’m continuing my macro theme with this shot of a tiny ladybird that I’m glad that I somehow managed to spot clinging to the underside of this yellow flower that seems inordinately popular with any local insects.
I’ve been wanting to take a nice shot of a ladybird for a long time, but I never do seem to be able to find any.
However, on this occasion, thanks to the Irish summer “heat”, there seems to be a whole lot of insect activity about these days, which is good news for macro photography!

Pink Connemara Wildflower
Here’s a few shots of another nice looking Connemara Wildflower that yet again I can’t identify. I thought it was some kind of honeysuckle, but I ain’t much of a botanist, so if anyone out there knows, then give us a shout!
Yellow blossom on the seashore
Here’s a shot that I quite like of an isolated yellow flower that dominates the seashore around Galway throughout the summer. If anybody can help me identify what the name of the flower actually is, it’d be much appreciated!
Spring bee and some site maintenance
Thanks to everybody that’s been checking out my blog lately, I’m consistently getting some pretty decent numbers of people viewing my work, so I’m a reasonably happy man of late. What I do lack however on this site, is the ability to personalise things like the layout according to my own whims. In order to be able to take control of the content of my site, I’ve been studying web design for the last few months. As a result of my studies, I’ve decided that it’s about time to put up a website all of my own to try to showcase my photos in the best light and maybe even add a facility for people to buy some of my work. I’ll be keeping my daily blog going of course (posting daily photos can get quite addictive) but I’ll also be working on a main site which is probably going to be making use of my domain www.feargalnorton.com. I’m not sure how it’s going to pan out exactly, but just in case anybody is wondering why the site isn’t so reliable or they are getting pointed to a page under construction, they can be rest assured that they are only experiencing some teething problems with my site launch.
Hopefully I’ll have everything back in order before anybody notices the difference. Meanwhile, why not enjoy this picture of a bee…
